Boys Volleyball loses early in CCC Tournament

 South Windsor 3, Newington 0: Kevin Bilbraut had 14 digs for Newington, which lost the CCC quarterfinals at home to South Windsor. Andres Ithier-Vicenty added 12 kills and Blake Mamclay had 25 assists.

Newington, 16-5, now must wait until the state tournament, which will see the Indians as the three seed and South Windsor as the top seed.

Newington won’t play again until the state quarters on June 3 and could see South Windsor again in the semis.

After Tuesday’s clunker, the Indians would love another chance.

“We played well yesterday and we were totally flat today,” Newington coach Curt Burns said. “You have to play well in a tournament like this and we did not.”
