Boys Volleyball still trying to win conference title

 Newington 3, Maloney 0: The way head coach Curt Burns put it, the Indians need to take care of the matches they’re supposed to win. They did just that with an easy sweep of the Spartans with set scores of 25-2, 25-13, 25-10.

“We’re still trying to get a top-two seed for the CCC tournament,” said Burns, whose team is now 15-2. “That’s still in play and we’re still trying to lock up the No. 1 seed in Class M.”

Luis Egbuna led Newington with 11 kills. Evan Metzger had 15 assists and three aces and Collin Liedke finished with eight digs.

“I played a lot of my second team today,” Burns said. “But it was good to get the win and keeps us in contention for the CCC West Championship.”
