NEWINGTON — The Newington boys volleyball team took another step on its journey toward a state title Friday, sweeping Lewis Mills and guaranteeing itself no worse than the two-seed in the upcoming Class M state tournament in the process.
The Indians (17-1) are now assured of a spot in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on June 6 and will be a high seed in the CCC Tournament as well. Friday’s romp saw Riley McManus record 34 assists and seven digs while Nick Hinchcliffe added 10 kills and Jon Cloutier had nine more for Newington. Lewis Mills dropped to 6-9, but can still make the state tournament by beating Newington in a rematch next week in Burlington.
