Boys Volleyball suffers first L

 Southington 3, Newington 2: In a battle of undefeated squads, Thursday’s match between Southington and Newington lived up to the hype.

After the Indians took a 2-0 lead, the Blue Knights stormed back to take the next three sets and win 3-2 on the road, handing the defending state champs their first loss of the season.

Zack Morgan had 43 assists for Southington, while Leonel Caceres recorded 49 for Newington. Tim Walsh led the Blue Knights with 23 kills, while Mason Romano had 16 for the Indians.

The anticipated rematch will be in May at Southington.
